Cinderella Syndrome
Cinderella Syndrome is a psychological phenomenon often described as a form of relationship dependency. The term originates from Colette Dowling's book and refers to women who fear independence and instead wait for a "prince" to rescue them. (Although the term is associated with women, it can, of course, apply to men as well.)
People suffering from Cinderella Syndrome often idealize relationships and tend to overlook their partner's flaws. This phenomenon is often rooted in low self-esteem, lack of confidence, and self-worth issues.
Cinderella Syndrome in the workplace: A phenomenon where an employee fears independence and responsibility, instead waiting for a leader to "rescue" and guide them. It is often characterized by low self-confidence and self-esteem.
Overcoming this syndrome requires developing self-awareness, strengthening self-esteem, and striving for independence.
